Its the miles, which scream no go.

I’d say if the headbolts + headgaskets were done as they should be, and the car is in good shape overall, that it’s a pretty good buy despite the mileage.

Or look at it as a 6.2 that ran for so many miles, it must be a good one, and well maintained.

Learn to rationalize harder!

:D

That’s actually true with German cars though. They come in 2 flavors: basketcase and bulletproof. I actually trust the high mileage ones much more because there’s a better chance they’re the latter.

Yeah, it’s odd but well founded. Something with just over 100k usually has all the work done and never became a major money pit for the first owner. It’s all these low-mileage ones I worry about more. Rode hard and put up wet.

Damn right sir. It’s the three owner ones with 50k miles that I wouldn’t touch with a 10 foot pole.

How many miles? I almost impulse bought a 2009 C63 with 85k on it back in March of 2016 for 24k.

I see your name and email address, but I do not see mileage...but I say get the head bolts checked and then buy that bad boy.

I’m constantly tempted by the E class of that generation and powertrain.

I assume you mean 2010 and newer, 212 chassis? They were still making the time headlight 211 for 2009. But yeah, me too, and 212's all got updated and problem free engines.

I have mad love for the aggressive update the 10+ had. In other news Japaneseclassics accepts bitcoin and they import legal Defender 110s!!!!!

All they would need is a 5.0L coyote swap and 6 speed with adapter for the 4wd. Modest 2-3" lift front/rear bumpers + safari rack for tool boxes.

Or in the case of 997's, never ridden and put away dry.

10-12 year old 997's with <30k miles on them made me very wary. I don’t know if they were driven 3k per year, or had the mileage front loaded and then sat for the rest of their life with deferred maintenance. And if it’s the latter then the engine seals are likely dried out. That’s why I stuck to looking at higher mileage cars with complete maintenance history.
